Becky King is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience in the field of substance use disorders and mental health services. Becky began her career at Valley Mental Health in 1994 as a case manager while pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of Utah. During her graduate training, she gained experience in family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and correctional group work. Upon graduation, she transitioned into a therapist role at Valley Mental Health before joining Salt Lake County Criminal Justice Services in 2000. There, she served as a Drug Court Therapist and subsequently as the Clinical Director for the Court and Treatment Services Program.

Currently, Becky is working part-time with Zendo Health as the Utah Clinical Director as she transitions from her position as Program Administrator for the Utah Department of Human Services, Office of Substance Use and Mental Health—a role she has held since 2007. In this capacity, she provides oversight for statewide programs addressing the needs of women, youth, and families. Becky serves as the Women’s Services Network Representative for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Directors, contributing to both local and national initiatives. She also serves as the Medical Social Work Director for Cascade Springs Home Health and Hospice and as a Clinical Supervisor for CLD3 Counseling. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1999.

She is the Women’s Services Network Representative for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Directors, where she assists with local and national projects, including the development of the following publications:  

  

  • Assisted in the Development of the First Draft of “Women Matter” and “Girls Matter” webinar series which was developed by Advocates for Human Potential for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

A graduate of the Women’s Addiction Services Leadership Institute in 2009, Becky served as a coach for the institute in 2016. Sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), and Advocates for Human Potential, Inc., this program honed her leadership skills and inspired the launch of Becky King Consulting, LLC. Through her consulting practice, Becky offers leadership coaching and consultation services to behavioral health organizations.

Becky has provided clinical supervision for interns and associate clinicians since 2001, a role she is deeply passionate about. Her professional expertise spans working with children, youth, and adults facing challenges such as substance use, mental health issues, trauma, family relationship concerns, and criminal justice involvement. Her specialized areas include substance use and mental health disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress management, and grief and loss.

Her therapeutic approach integrates person-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused modalities, along with mindfulness, holistic health, and wellness techniques. She is committed to utilizing gender-responsive, culturally sensitive practices within a trauma-informed framework.
